PDO Threads In Metairie, New Orleans

Keep your skin firm and look youthful with PDO threads! Now serving the greater Metairie New Orleans area including Kenner & Harahn! As we age, our skin loses its elasticity, and our muscles aren’t as firm as they used to be. The result is sagging skin and weaker facial muscles. Many people want a solution to this but aren’t willing to invest in a full surgical facelift. Thankfully, there are other options, like PDO threads.

How Do PDO Threads Work?

PDO or polydioxanone is a synthetic, absorbable, biodegradable material often used to create sutures for wounds that require more support than the commonly used absorbable sutures.

Threads are injected under the skin using a blunt-tip or sharp tip cannula (a thin tube). As the threads are inserted into the different layers of skin or subcutaneous fat, they act like a scaffold, visibly lifting loose, sagging skin.

Various threads can be used depending on your needs, including:

  • Mono threads: Smooth threads that stimulate new collagen, which is a great option if you’re looking to tighten the skin without lifting it.

  • Cog threads: Barbed or press-molded, cone-shaped cog threads anchor to the skin and lift the tissue, most commonly around the jawline. Collagen stimulation can occur with this thread as well.

  • Screw threads: Two mono threads are intertwined around a needle, allowing for a volumizing (or plumping) effect, in addition to lifting the skin.

Patients who invest in PDO threads in Metairie, Kenner & Harahan New Orleans can see a visible lift immediately following the procedures (which takes approximately 45 minutes including anesthesia). It takes about 2 to 4 months for new collagen production, after which the results will be much more pronounced.
